Deterrence is the "primary purpose" or the U.S "sole purpose" is to restrain other countries from using nuclear weapons?
Nuclear policy can be change this week. Obama is deciding his nuclear policy with help from militray advisors. The new policy will be documented in the Nucluear Posture Review. This will defined what Obama will do about the issue of nuclear weapons.
This new policy will determined to keep using nuclear weapons as a threat or take weapons from around the world to keep peace. Not only that but it will overturned policies implemented by the Bush administration. It will also determined the amount of weapons the Pentagon will be in supply.
On Friday the 40th anniversary of the Non-Profileration Treaty, Obama stated that the review will reduce the use of nuclear weapons as a military strategy instead it will be want to keep a safe, secure and effective nuclear deterent.
I wonder how will the Department of Defense react?
